    Making good progress.

I enjoyed it earlier in the week when somebody living opposite decided to add to our pile of rubbish (cheeky beggars). They were hanging basket plants. These included begonias, fuschias and pelagoniums.

Thank you. I can save them for next year image obviously too lazy to put into their own bin!

  • Everything has been burned or taken to the tip. Next step is to lift the turf and get rid of the worst of the nettles.

In the process of lifting the turf now. It is coming up pretty easily due to the nettle roots. It is like pulling up carpet!

A massive ivy on the far wall has been taken down. Next is the sycamore. Still things to take to the tip image

Hopefully the weather will hold in the coming weeks

  • Looking good cotty, nice to have a projectimage

I like that little wall it's really smart.

I am lucky that on the wall are two water butts joined to the neighbours garages with pipes coming down. They will probably collect one water than if I connected mine to the greenhouse so I will connect to them.

I am hoping for an Indian summer to make it easier on my plans.

Hello , wondered how it is going ?image

It is going well so far GWRS, but i feel like I could have done a bit more.

My parents have been brilliant. They have just retired and they are enjoying going down there with the dog and chopping things down and going to the tip as it is keeping them active.

But I work shifts and sometimes 7 days a week. I have got two gorgeous girls (6&10),and two miniature schnauzers and a disabled wife, so getting the time to go down is difficult. It will get better as I am gradually changing my lifestyle and will do at least 3 hours before work this week.

I am really excited about it and I think my enthusiasm has caught on to a few people. My wife and children want to get involved but it is the wrong time of year and wrong type of work. Sowing and harvesting is more fun than digging and chopping!

I have bought 20 strawberry plants with the recent offer in the magazine so can't wait for them.

I recently went to Wilkinsons and got lots of seed at 75% off! So proud.

I am getting there, gradually. But I will continue to update you all.

You are right. Gardeners are so helpful and thoughtful and it is such an amazing past time that you just want to share it with everyone.

I have got lots of books but there will be lots more of collective years of experience on here.

Making good progress. Nearly all of the turf has been lifted.

I have been a bit distracted though with potting up 40 strawberry plants that I got from d t browns, which were on offer in the latest gardeners world magazine.

Can't wait to lift the last of the turf up as I am getting bitten by all the red ants that occupy the land.
