  • We thought they could be - there are plenty of them about in the garden, thanks for confirming.

Yes, they are honey bees @Guernsey Donkey2. We have loads in the garden at the moment when it's not raining!

We have lots here too. I know we have lots  of different varieties of bee here, and although I'm pretty hopeless at IDing them, it doesn't matter - they're  a pleasure to have.
If w.edges is struggling to ID them,  then I have no chance   ;)

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Oh yes, that rain floralies, those poor insects (and birds) having to survive against this weather.  However we should have a few hours of sunshine this afternoon.

I think I've worked out the 'long face' ID now though thanks to the bees being sluggish for a few days.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Days old spiderlings of the European garden spider (Araneus diadematus) living communally on their web atop a Santolina plant.

  • Lovely pictures of a beautiful creature @steephill , you are so lucky to have these in your garden.

I've just been watching these bees at the end of my garden. There are many more, all along the edge of the concrete slab you can see.

Lovely LG. I have some doing the same, under the conifer at the back of the garden   :)

They're really not bothered by you taking their photo at all steephill  :)

Some of the locals at Loch Quoich from my walk last Wednesday
