    Poem

Mud is very nice to feel

All squishy squash between the toes!

I'd rather wade in wiggly mud

    Than smell a yellow rose.

Nobody else but a rosebush knows

    How nice mud feels

    Between the toes.

    (Polly C Boyden)

From a delightfull chidrens poetry Ladybird book  Bedtime Rhymes 1977 .

I still remember most of them after reading them so many times.

'You must have some bread with it me duck!'

  • It's not as strong as Gertrude Jekyll, it's more subtle and changes over time but lovely all the same. The foliage is a lovely bright green too. Ive got a Crocosmia "Paul's Best Yellow"to plant nearby and a white peony along with Heleniums and salvias and  hardy geraniums and good old alchemilla mollis.

    What a sweet poem lamweedy

Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
