No frogs, I think my container pond is too small. But a toad arrives every year in early spring and stays till the end of summer. Not sure if it's the same one each time..
It cools off in the water when hot and wanders round the garden eating slugs in the evening. Not a bit bothered by my two large dogs.
I havent been out on a night with a torch to look to be honest. Never mind, mine are obviously very shy amphibians and prefer to keep themselves to themselves. Heres hoping ?
When I took that photo he'd been in the pond in exactly the same position for 3 days. Its a half barrel pond partly sunk into the ground and I wondered if he was trapped in there so kept adding more ramps to help him get out...but I think he must've just been in there because it was hot weather as he got out as soon as it cooled down.
Don't worry - they have a calendar and thermometer: mine arrived 7/3/2014 9C, 6/3/2015 10C, 12/3/2016 10C and 1/3/2017 2C. This year was a disaster - too cold - (we had a warm spell just earlier and they got it wrong). 2016 produced a plague of baby frogs. They filled the neighbour's gardens and cutting the lawn was a very slow and careful job. Make sure they can get through your fences. I found some getting cosy in a puddle and had to assist them to the pond. Lots of luck. It is exciting.

I didnt think the size matters really. My mums pond is small and she usually gets a few frogs. Lovely photo!
He looks one mean toad, Terri!
