Hi gill, when I click on your page I don't get a 'message me'. I don't want to put my email on the open forum. Can you change your profile to receive private messages?

These are the pics of gill's plant and what she says about it

i don't live at the property where the main big plant is anymore, these are its saplings. in the autumn it goes a reddish orange then the leaves and stems drop off to the main stem leaving just the main trunk. it has spines on trunk. im not at home at the mo so cant take a close up of the leaves. it doesn't smell, don't know about the flower. hope this is of help.

  • well i am now educated. thank you all so much i have now researched and agree this is the aralia elata tree. thanks to angela quite ironic that it is also called angelica tree. it was your fait to find out about a tree with your name.ha ha! i found out some interesting facts.

it came to britain in the 1830s

originates from japan, china and eastern rushia.

    grows to 5-10 metres.

what was most interesting is that in china they take off the spring shoots and fry them in tempora batter called(taronoki)

so now your all educated i have quite a few of these little plants. sold in the nursery for £14 . i will sell them less than half the price. anyone interested.lol guess it will be out of the gate job.

thankyou you all so much for resolving my mystery plant.

angela if your ever in devon email me and you can call in and have one.te he!
