Poison Ivy Identification after Rash

  • Hi after several visits to the doctors to try and give me something to sort the swelling, itching and skin flaking on my arms the symptoms died down. I now just have some dry skin in places.

I also think I have identified the problem plant. I'm fairly sure it is Ivy. I was cutting back a Holy bush in the front garden and noticed some Ivy growing up it's trunk and along the branches so cut it and pulled it off. The next day I had red spots on the upside of my fingers and a rash on my wrists.

So with any luck now I know the problem plant I can make sure I am protected when I have to come in contact with it again, which will be fairly often as there is a lot of it in the garden due to it covering a wooden frame all the way across the garden containing an arch way. Also I have it at various spots climbing the fences along the garden.

    Thanks for all the advice.

I'm glad you're on the mend. That's certainly quite an unusual sensitivity ... Better put some good gardening gloves on Santa's list image

This is a bit of a long shot.  In the photo with the fern, down to the left is that Pulmonaria?  I get rather itchy when handling that.  The ones I have have furry hairs and I always have to take some piriton but I don't get the kind of reaction you seem to be suffering from.
