I've got both hirsutum and angustifolium (and several others), they don't cause me a lot of bother.

Just to say .....
Rosebay willow herbs is the most fantastic source of nectar for honeybees ....
Our garden is a couple of acres so we are able to leave some big patches of it for our bees to enjoy.

Don't bee off just yet - I have just read all your messages and agree that the second picture is Liatris Spicata, but I am not 100% sure that you are right with Rosebay Willow Herb. I will try to take a few close up pictures.
There are several willow herbs and I'm sure that's one of them, but not rosebay. Not enough flowers on each stem.
Number 2 is Liatris, not Liastris
