Best weed and feed for Lawn

chirpy999chirpy999 Posts: 25

Hello, I was wondering what do members think is the best weed and feed for lawns? My lawn is about 20 feet by 20 feet at the rear of my house and 15*15 on the front. The rear has vey few weeds but needs feeding to thicken up the grass. The front has more weeds and also some moss

Many thanks .

I use any old one - they're pretty much the same! B&Q's one is fine, and I've also used Scott's - who make Evergreen. Never noticed any difference. image

I  think other people here use Wilko - we don't have them up here though, so haven't tried it.

I use Westland 3 in 1 but only buy it when it's buy one get one half price or similar offer.

weve tried some others but they don't blacken the moss like the Westland does. Not for us anyway.

I don't think it really matters which one you use. The important point, whatever one you buy, is READ the instructions. We have had a host of people on here lately who haven't and so have burnt their lawn. If it is a granular feed, weigh out the recommended dose in a plastic cup using kitchen scales, then mark out a square metre on the grass with canes. You will then have an idea of the dose and area. Do NOT overdose thinking more will be better. It ain't.

Absolutely agree Hogweed,  but I do wonder if the people who thought they'd burnt their grass mistook the black patches for burn when in actual fact it is dead moss.

Ours looks terrible when it's first been done.
