    Just an idea, but what about contacting your local Wildlife Trust

    It being Cornwall, with a milder climate than most of the UK, there may be something that's made itself at home there which doesn't grow as well if at all in the rest of the country.

    P.S.  Very envious of your cottage in Cornwall, even with rampant unknown plants ... we'll be down your way later in the year as usual image

    Thank you dovefromabove - I have just sent them a message.  I will let you all know if I get a response.  I do know there is a village gardening club that meets once a month and I plan to join that when things have settled down following the move.  I am sure I can't be the only one in the village with this growing nearby.....
