Clematis - is it dead?
Hello
I have a clematis over my summer house. It is about eight years old and was in rude health until recently. Just as it was starting to wake up i moved some of the branches around as it was in danger of falling off the front of the summerhouse. I didn't break any major stems and the bottom part of it didn't move at all. It was only those stems over the top of the summerhouse that were moved.
However, now it is seemingly dead but the smaller branches are not completely brittle so my question is: Is it really dead or is it just sulking? Please can someone help me?
Thanks
Julia

Do you know what variety it is, and were the stems you moved all new growth, or exisiting, woody growth?
It's more than likely that you have damaged the stems carrying the growth you moved, even if you don't think you have. it's easily done. Which parts do you think are dead - is it all on the top, or is there damage lower down?
A pic would really help too if you can manage it. Click on the camera icon top right and follow instructions. It helps if the photos are less than 2.5 MB so that they upload more easily.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
