I put a lily in my pond nearly 30 years ago. It covers most of the surface and the plant is a monster.

It's never been fed and I wouldn't advise feeding as the nutrients will be food for algae and will turn your water green. Your lily should get all it needs from the pond.
    Just relax and enjoy

Ponds tend to self regulate: I've never been advised to water a lilly; in fact it would be very difficult too (even in a little pond) without upsetting the overall eco system.
