Hardy underplanting query

Hi all

Can you help?

I have an established Rosa Rugosa 'hedge' along the north facing fence at the edge of the South facing garden.

Not overly dry just dark.

I want something to ground cover underneath once the Bluebells have died off... like now.

PS it has to be hardy and hopefully rather tough. I have a dog.

Thanks

Claire

Hardy geraniums perhaps, but most things will struggle to do well under any hedge once the foliage is there.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
