Black Carrot shaped tubers

Joseph20Joseph20 Posts: 2

Bought some black carrot shaped tubers at the Chatsworth/ RHS flower show but can't remember the name.

They are flowering plants not fruit or veg.

Anyone any ideas what they are called??

I saw some Mirabilis jalapa roots being sold. Yes, they looked like black carrots. Make sure you plant the right way up.  (fat bit at the top) There was also a lot of allium and Lily bulbs being sold. They may be lucky and flower by October.  A bit late I thought, althought they seemed to be selling well. I just took notes and names tto order in the winter.

Mirabilis jalapa grow  easily from seed and flower the same season.  Left in the ground over winter, the roots tend to rot off here.

Thanks for the info and planting advice.

Next time I go to a show I will take pen and paper to make a note of what I bought..
