Cherry tree infestation

Hi, Can anyone shed light on my cherry tree infestation? The leaves of new shoots (underneath)are full of small black shiney bugs. They are slightly smaller than black aphids and rounder. I have cut the affected shoots off and sprayed with soapy water as I do not use chemicals. I have never seen these before.
