I wonder if you're not confusing a euonymous and a hebe. Both can have have cream and green variegation on the leaves but hebe is the one with purple flowers.

Euonymus atropurpurea? Not vivid purple more red to my eye.
Please can you add a pic to this thread.

Euonymus flowers have 4 petal ....really tiny...completely missable.
It is the seed capsules that are fabulous.

agree with SS, a photo is required, nothing vivid about a euonymus flower.

I have never been able to upload, Even when I resize. I have a few in the garden I rescued but don't know what they are.
Maybe someone here can advice you about adding pics.
Does you shrub have leaves that are opposite? see link.
If the leaves are alternate you can rule out Euonymus.

Could it be a variegated Vinca? Those have 5 petals.
What shape are the flowers - flat and petalled or frothy and plume like?
I've PMd Maylane and suggested she emails a photo to me and I will upload it. That's worked OK in the past

Good idea, nut.
Hebe silver queen. The variegated leaf threw me. Thank you!
