Hi, I'd like some help identifying these two plants. Not sure if they're weeds or something worth keeping. Thank you ????

  • Pic 2 is Leylestera formosa AKA Himalayan Honeysuckle. Has a reputation but worth keeping.

Pic 1. Using phone so can't zoom in with great detail but looks like somewhat like a ravaged, young figwort but may be off the mark.

I think the first is a mustard type plant. The holes as well as the plant suggest this

    In the sticks near Peterborough

image If it is Leycesteria Formosa then here's an idea of scale for you to know how it is when mature. This one was cut to ground level 2 or 3 seasons ago (think it was 3), but it is over 14 years old probably (based on house sales etc).

The Himalayan Honeysuckle is the rounded bush in front of the hedge in the background.  Behind the hedge is an 8x10 shed.

The dog is "drinking" or looking at herself in a simulation of where I intend a pond to go, I simulated it with a double-glazing unit given to me by next-doors thinking I could use it in a cold frame.

Way too much info for a plant ID thread but humour me, I liked the pic. image

The bench is also a mock up - I'm in the planning stage of a wildlife pond and trying to get a feel for where you'd sit etc.

Sorry hijacked your thread but hope it gives perspective for your wee seedling.

Thank you very much everyone. Looks like a lovely plant. I think I'll have to place it in a more suitable place, going by how big they can get. What a beautiful garden you have Cloggie ?

Apologies for being pedantic here ; the correct pronunciation for Leycesteria formosa is 'Lest-e-rea' ; (for years I got that one wrong)!!

Who said it out loud Paul B3? image

Thanks tigrisdyr7, I try.  Not all mine obviously - something to be said for "borrowed landscape"! image
