Problem overcrowding tomatoes

Hi everyone

I'm writing because after planting many tomatoes of different varieties and butter nut squash seeds I was pretty happy seeing them grow but I never expected to have almost 100% success planting and germinating the seeds (I planted more than i needed).

The thing now is that i believe there is not much space for them to grow healthy and producing fruits as I would like them to.. I've gave them organic fertilizer spikes 2-7-4 and I also have a compost bin with earthworms helping the decomposition of my vegetable scraps.

In the pictures you will also see some charlevoix peas, beans and melon seeds that was a late surprise to have.

Finally my questionis: If I feed them regularly with water and compost tea from my compost bin will they grow ok even with the short spacing between them?

Thanks!

All those tomato and melon  and squash plants need to be in their own individual pots now. Good multipurpose compost and no additional fertiliser until they have produced flowers and the first fruits have begun to appear.

And if you have too many plants pot them up and give them to your friends and neighbours. It's what we all do image

As Dove says, , and dont forget those tomato plants will get to six feet tall, so they need a cane put in from the start. The squash plants  spread right out, so give them plenty of space, in the garden, about three feet apart at least.

Ok.. I appreciate your comments! I think with the squashes I won't be able to separate each individual plant or put them somewhere else.. they are all interconnected at root level. I just wonder if I keep feeding them well they will spread and grow up and around the fence? they look very healthy and growing very fast the last week!

About the tomatoes.. I guess you are right.. Give them to someone would be the best choice :)

Your tomatoes need to have at least a 10-12 inch pot to themselves if you are intending to grow them in pots  or 3 to a grow bag.
