dying plant
in Plants
I have a bush in my back garden, not sure what it is (may be a rhododendron). It appears to have some sort of disease as the leaves are turning black and dying. This has affected about a quarter of the bush. Anyone know what the cause is and what, if any, treatment there is to cure/prevent it?

A picture would be a big help. Ideally one of the whole shrub and a closer pic of the diseased leaves

Hello Pete8, thanks for your reply, I'm new to this forum and wasn't sure how to load pics. Managed to load two pics as requested but couldn't make them any bigger than this as there doesn't seem to be any edit facility. Hope these help.
It looks like a Laurel to me, And it looks like its been scortched by cold winds we've had this Spring. I'd leave it alone to recover and give it a good feed . One high in Nitrogen.
Yikes - that looks nasty!
I'm no expert on such matters, but have a look here and see if you think it may be the cause

Thanks for your help, hopefully Musher is right and it will recover in time with a bit of TLC.
I googled that a while ago when it happened to mine. It's not terminal. Cut off the black bits.
I did that and it's fine now but I'm going to hoik it out when I can summon up the motivation because I'm not too keen on it.
looks like aucuba to me. Mine did the same and I just dug it out and got rid.
