Planting Now For Next Year

Hi everyone,

This is my first year at trying to do 'proper' gardening so I am a proper newbie to this. So far I've had decent success growing plants from seed for this year - dahlia, cosmos, cerinthe, nasturtium and magnolia. But there are a few I've bought seeds for that won't flower until next year - globe thistle, hollyhock, foxglove, sweet william.

With plants like these, is the general practice to grow and plant out this year or grow this year, over-winter indoors and plant out next spring?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

David

Grow them on until they fill the pot , but then plant out in final position, while the soil is still warm, and they will grow to big plants to flower for next year.  They are all hardy and don't need overwintering indoors.
