Can anyone help me identify this plant (possibly a weed?)

    Could the top ones be Cosmos seedlings ... those seed leaves look very like cosmos ... I've got lots of self-seeded cosmos appearing in my borders.

    I was an idiot and sowed a load of seed in my new bed, without marking what was what. On reflection I think the top one was one of my dill plants!

    It has that look about it Hosta, but I can't see the leaf s. shape and surface clearly

    Can anyone advise on what book/resource I can use to train myself to identify weeds?

    There are websites ... one here

    but the best way of learning is practice.  

    Sowing your seeds in rows or defined patches and label them will also help.
