Fig tree caution

A neighbour and his friend cut down an overgrown fig tree in the friend's garden. The sap which dripped onto their skin has caused horrible burns. A quick google search reveals that the sap is unpleasant -  it is quite well known (but not by all!) It contains a skin irritant called ficin which produces weals on uncovered skin.  Prune with caution - and cover up!
