onion curl problem
in Fruit & veg
Hello folks
Some of the onions on my plot have developed a twisted, curly stem. I assume this is some kind of problem in the base of the onion itself? Will the resulting onions still be edible?
Many thanks for your replies

Hi Nikki, it sounds like onion fly, allium leaf miner or leek moth, links for each below:

Dig one up and see what you can find.

Hi Bob the Gardener
Many thanks for the info on the above problem. Seems like I should stop growing alliums of any sort, unless I provide special prevention against these flies, moths etc first. I've learned something new here.
Thanks again
Nikki
