black plastic

I've got a large area of allotment that i'm not going to have time to cultivate this year, its currently 2 foot high grass and brambles after not being touched for many years.

i'm hoping to cover it with black plastic, weed suppression fabric is no good as I don't have access to gravel or woodchip to hold it down.

does anyone know where to get large amounts of black plastic suitable for going over brambles from?

You will need to cut brambles to ground level before rolling out the plastic, or it will just rip. Use heavy duty builders type.

You will still need to anchor it with bricks etc, or it will just blow away in the first gale.

got loads of bricks and smashed paving slabs, I think the previous allotment holder collected them! i'm going to cut everything to the floor with a brush cutter and then plastic over the top.

Depending how large a piece you want then silage plastic is a good bet. I use it on my field which is a mixture of weed grasses, thistles, rosebay, rose ground elder marestail and pretty much anything else you can think of. It works but don't expect it to last many years as the voles bite holes in it.
