Pear Tree Pollination
in Fruit & veg
Hi. We have been really silly and lost the labels for the two new pear trees that we planted. Being newbies to fruit trees hasn't helped either! I have to shamefully admit that I can't remember the type of pears that they are - what I do know is that they are both the same. However, they blossomed quite well on the lower branches and I thought "Oh good - we might have some pears this year". Well, the blossom just dropped off and no developing fruit- obviously not pollinated. I need to get another type of pear to ensure that these pollinate next year. Is there a type of pear that will pollinate every species?
Thanks - any advice appreciated.

Thanks pansyface. That link was really helpful
. I have since discovered that they are Conference Pears - I rang the place where we bought them and that was the only type that they were selling at the time! So, as you say, it must have been the frost that got them.
