Mature wisteria replant

Hi there,

advice  for novice gardener please !

last summer I dug up an old wisteria that was climbing all over a neighbours garage - it had lots of foliage and thick trunk and roots (about 6ft long and wide) I planted it with good well drained soil, compost mix in a sunny part of SW facing garden.

i have loads of buds (100's) but they open and then there are more buds inside - I don't know if it is in shock or dying/dead - it seems dry, June 3rd and no foliage, no flowers, please help - I'm not the most knowledgable about gardens and am wondering if it is a lost cause ...!
