Indoor Geraniums
I don't know anything about plants, but have wanted to learn and have a few around my room/houseshare so, I bought two scented geraniums.
What do I need to do to take care of them generally?
They are on a window sill that get a lot of sunlight and I've been watering them whenever the soil feels dry to touch from about an inch below the surface. This is every morning at the moment.
The seller told me they needed repotting soon. I bought a bag of compost from her and picked up some 12cm pots to move them into as they are getting pretty big. Can I just use that compost and move them into the larger pots?
One of them is growing pretty fast, and I'm worried it'll become too big. Can I control this? Should I be pruning them? What would that involve?

Hi, anyone able to help me out? point me in the right direction?
I've just got some scented pelargoniums for the first time this year as well, they're wonderful. They need to be put in bigger pots, don't worry about them drying out, pelargoniums are very drought tolerant. Just prune them if they are getting too big, they quickly recover and branch more and you can even use those cuttings to make new plants
Thanks! I've repotted them and gave them a good pruning. Will see how they go now. Have never pruned anything before, think was a bit scared of damaging it.
I've also put a cutting into one of the pots, so will see how that goes
They are lovely smelling plants, not sure what scent they both are, but one of them is really gorgeous.
I've also got a spider plant and aloe vera plant and was wondering how much light/water they need?
Hi I'm not the most experienced but I have had experience with the above. Scented geraniums can be really vigorous - I've seen one in a maaasssive terracotta pot at a medicinal garden in London. they must keep pruning and shaping it and have it in a conservatory. I gave mine and all th cutting plants away because I had no space and they got really big. I miss them though, they are so wonderfully scented. Take a leaf and let the water run onto as you're running a bath and it givesa nice, relaxing aroma.
I have an aloe vera and a spider plant which I hardly water, maybe once a month for the latter, but others might do differently to me. I think the aloe vera needs more light than the spider plant but they both need light.

That bath tip sounds great, I could do with something like that at the moment, so thanks
. I love the scent they give off.
Okay, that's good to know, I have been watering the aloe and spider plant a bit much probably. Although my aloe has very flat leaves and one of them is drooping a bit. I might put it into a slightly larger pot as it's in a pretty small one.
