Can anybody recommend a good patio slab cleaner that will remove all the algae and lichen from my slabs .

People say bleach will work, in our experience a pressure washer is all you need. I'd suggest trying that first. Cover up any nearby plants though, our young hollyhock took a pummeling with the dirty spray and has only just recovered... probably beats a toxic substance though.
