lupin plant not doing well

hello,
I've put this plant in a mix of shop bought soil and compost a week ago. It seems to not be doing well. It's in a half shaded, half sunny position. 
Any advice really appreciated.

Looks like it needs a good soaking. it might pick up a bit, but some of the leaves might have had it
I would cut the flower off, the plant is too small to sustain flowers yet and to make root growth, then give a real soaking, stand the whole thing in a bowl or bucket full of water. In a clay pot it will need a soak twice a day. They really are best put in the ground.
Sorry but I totally disagree.
Lupins like good moist soil. I have even managed to get them to do well in my bog garden.
Water well, decent soil, but I agree, not in a pot.

Totally agree with you. My Lupins are huge and flowering now beautifully.

Agree with the flower advice. Ours is twice as big with half the flower. Must be putting the plant under and lot of strain, not sure how they managed to grow it like that!
