Coleus HELP

I purchased a Coleus(at least that's what the tag said it was) around the end of April, about a month ago. The reason I am skeptical about whether or not it actually is a Coleus is the fact that it is yellow and green. No purple or any type of actual color is on it.

Are some Coleus just that color, does it have some kind of disease, or could it be the store bought conainer/soil it came with?

I had it in shade mostly then I recently moved it to a spot that gets about 4 to 7 hours of sunlight. I keep the sould damp, water it about every other day to every 3 days (I live in Texas so it dries out pretty fast).

Some are. They come in all colours -  mostly vibrant colours. Looks like you've got one with more subtle shades.image

Some coleus are just yellow and green ............... I used to buy a pack of mixed seeds and you get all sorts, including just yellow and green.

Here are some named varieties of yellow and green coleus

Our local soccer team play in yellow and green and are called the Canaries ... they ought to have them as part of the display outside the ground image

  • Aw darn. Ok well that does make me feel a lot better! Now that I know it isn't because I'm doing something wrong!?

Glad that helped.  Maybe buy a pack of mixed seeds next?

They're one of the first plants I ever grew from seed as a child ... I grew them on my bedroom windowsill and sold the plants at church sales and to my friends at school.

  • Thank you guys so much! I actually bought this one full grown but do prefer growing them from seeds.

If you want some more yellow and green ones, coleus root very easily from cuttings ... just put in water for a few weeks image
