Pond questions.

I have lots of pond weed (Elodea) that I weight so it can root at the bottom.

However since the water is never completely clear (and is currently a bit reddish in colour) I wonder if it gets enough sunlight to grow well.Is it a good idea to let it float on the surface and make its way down to the bottom?

I have always found it grows quicker when floating and of course there is more oxygen and it fills the pond more quickly.

What do you do?

All my plants are just thrown in, they find there own way and my pond water is always crystal clear.

I have now hoiked some weed up from the bottom and let it float on the top so hopefully now it will grow better and get clearer water!!

My water isn't crystal clear, but the bugs, birds and beasties don't seem to mind a bit.

I don't need crystal clear water but I would like to see my fish once in a while!!!

Last year I could see right to the bottom of my 2 foot deep pond, not crystal clear but I could see things!

This year has been so hot that I think the algae is into overdrive!!
