slug problem
hi
we moved into a house a few years back and every plant we planted got eaten by slugs
I tried beer traps etc but no real good result
I then cleared all the large over grown beds and removed all debris from underneath plants and spent many a night out after and during rain collecting slugs and snails and putting them into an old plastic bottle for disposal. smaller slugs got cut in half
I have been out a couple of nights recently after rain and can barely find five slugs and a few snails.
nothing works better than clearing dead leaves and collecting slugs and snails at night

You paint a great picture of crawling around at night collecting your slugs and snails. You seem to be winning but there will be more waiting in the wings to invade. What do you do with the ones you collect? Perhaps I shouldn't ask!
Spikey the hedgehog would love to feast on them. As would frogs and toads and blackbirds and thrushes.
I'd carry on with the chopping regime as they can then be eaten by predators.
