Yes prune after flowering but you don't NEED to prune it - only if there is a reason too, such as  removing dead or diseased branches or if its outgrowing the space available.

     Thank you ?

  • I am a little confused about when (and if) I should prune my Philadelphus. I have it for 3 years now and it is very healthy but has never flowered and this year seems to be the same. All the sites say that you should prune just after flowering - but I have not seen any info on when is the best time to prune a non-flowering plant (in the hope that it flowers next year. So I am undecided as to whether I should just leave it and hope that it will produce, or maybe prune in mid July/ August in the hope that this will encourage flowering next year.

    Any suggestions gratefully appreciated
