cleaning betula jacquemontii
Can I strip the bark off of my silver birch (Betula Jacquemontii) to show the white underneath or does it harm the tree? Is it best just to wash it off?

Ouch. My reaction is that the bark is there for a good reason so why strip it off? A gorgeous tree.

Iamweedy - it does work it's way off anyway like an acer but I just wondered if I could give it a helping hand with not damage incurred.
