Pruning Cherry Tree

I planted Stella Cherry tree last year, my first, everything is good, growing well.

On the suppliers website it had the following pruning advice for the first year

"In the first spring after planting, select 3 or 4 well spaced branches on a clear trunk of at least 75cm (29"), and shorten them by two thirds. Remove the central stem to just above the highest of the selected branches. Remove any laterals below the selected branches"

Cutting two thirds seem a bit drastic to me. I was always told never prune more than a third. It stands approx. 2m high

Can anyone advise the best course of action.
