I am going to plant Cyperus longus (sweet Galingale) in my pond. Is it invasive and is it perennial?

Ooo heck - I had better contain it well within the basket then - perhaps the plant should stay in a pot in the basket which will be well lined. The plant looks healthy and it is native so that is two positives. I wanted perennial plants which don't die down to nothingness in the winter, so that has restricted my choices. Thanks ChrissieB.
