My peony isn't flowering
I planted my peony last year (herbaceous variety) and it was flowering when I planted it. This year I have beautiful foliage but no flowers. I realise that this is probably caused by being planted too deep but if this is the case should I replant it, knowing that they don't like being moved or shall I wait another year to see what happens. Any advice would be appreciated.

they don't mind being moved and they hate being too deep. I wouldn't move one at this time of year but you could scrape away some of the soil.

Thank you both. I have to say I hadn't thought of scraping away some soil! I think I'll try that before I riskmoving it.
Thanks again.
Be patient they do take their time to get setlled and do follow the guides about planting depth .

Thank you I will.

I have two paeonies about 10 feet apart in the same border. One is flowering its heart out and the other has produced a solitary flower for the first time this year. I suspect I planted one a bit deep, but it does seem to be recovering. My inclination would be to leave it alone and wait a year or so.
One of our peonies has flowered for the past few years, with more flowers each year. We accidentally mulched it, when mulching the border last Autumn, plus some Allium leaves shaded the crown of the plant, so no flowers this year.
I would do as the other say, and just make sure the crown is exposed to sun, but not move it. We are hoping we will get flowers again next year if we do this.
They do tend to take a while to re settle if you move them, but it's a waiting game, and unfortunately you can't hurry them. They need quite rich, well drained soil, with plenty of food, and as already said, not planted too deeply.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Sorry can I ask - I need to move one too, simply because I bought several - got the varieties mixed up before planting and lost labels - and it's a short variety (rubra plena) which I wanted at the front of the border but has ended up in the back. I tried to lift it a couple of weeks ago, but it wouldn't come out and then I tugged it and ripped some of the root! It seems okay but I just pushed it back in and left it there. It has lots of leaves but no flower. Shall I wait until later in the year to move it and attempt again??
The Red charm, Reine Hortense and Angel Cheeks bare roots have buds already after only planting in December, I am quite surprised.
