Will my cucumber grow side shoots?

I cut off the top of my growing cucumber last week, but it doesn't look much like it is going to split in to two branches? Any advice, thanks

I expect it will soon send out sideshoots from a number of leaf axil buds.
I read somewhere that you can cut it above the 7th flower so that the main stem splits into two and I can trail it within my greenhouse.
