Pyracantha Saphyr Red - worried it won't flower
Hi - I have a pyracantha saphyr red trained as a climber and growing against a semi-shaded wall. The plant, which I planted in March, still has all of its berries, along with some new growth, but only one tiny flowering bud. I am worried that it won't flower fully this summer or have berries in the autumn. Should I have pruned the berries off the plant?

If it's got last year's berries, it's very less likely flowers are present, and if so, it will be sparse. In my area, most of the flowers are going over now. These plants are more about the berries so let the season wear on and see how it responds. No need to prune off the berries. But if you are training against something, then it's totally up to you to shape as you please but a plant that has just been planted in spring, the shrub was probably grown in a sheltered position that birds could not get to it, hence berries present. This is not unusual either since many growers want to showcase berries than flowers on these shrubs.
