Fish tank water??

So I'm about to clean out my fish tank. I end up just pouring away a good 3-4 buckets of water. Surely there's some goodness in the old water? I have plenty of indoor and outdoor plants that need watering - would be a shame to waste it?

Last thing I'd want though, is to think it was a great idea and it ending up killing everything!

What do you think?

It'll be fine and, as you say, may have few nutrients in it too.

I replace 33 galls each week in my tank - I siphon it onto the garden, and everything in that part thrives  - though it may just be the extra water, it certainly does no harm.
I also use it on houseplants

Brilliant. I completely forgot to save some for my house plants, ill remember next time! But i have poured it all over the garden.

I also found a dead fish.. I'm sure something will enjoy that too ?

Yes.  Higher than normal in phosphate and nitrate.  Fish are the key thing that makes aquatic plants grow within the fish tanks and they help outside too!

When I'm watering my garden, I actually take my water directly from my pond for that reason, then I top that back up from the hose.
