Dying plants

my husband has recently cleared a border plot in our garden. We have just moved so this is a new situation to us. He planted 4 beautiful lupin plants ...which for a week thrived. Virtually overnight they shrivelled & died. last week end he planted taggettes & lobelia ...this morning we see the same thing has happened...they were. Healthy yesterday? We can only assume soil contamination....but what? & how do we rid?

many thanks

We have since lifted the affected plant & found tiny little white three worms in the roots????

    Hello Pam image

    That's very frustrating.

Did they look anything like this?

Thanks for the reply..no they didn't look bug like. They were tiny white moving threads. We have been to the local garden supplies & the mr reckons they are vine weavils. We have taken his advice & product. My husband has now sprayed the entire area...fingers crossed. image
