Help with fuscia standards.
in Plants
can anyone help me with my fuscia standards please. if I pick out the top of the standards I've grown, will they grow taller next year, or will they just stay at 3 foot. they only grow to about 2. 1/2ft the first year, then doubles the second year, but I'm afraid if I pick the top out it may not grow taller next year?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

By 'picking the top out' you are 'stopping' the upward growth and the plant then produces side shoots which form the 'lollipop' shape of a standard. You shouldn't stop the plant until it reaches the desired height, always bearing in mind that if you allow it to grow too high if may be too weak to support the weight of the head and the stem may then snap. It's usual to use two sturdy canes to support standard fucshias - one each side of the stem.
