Passion flower / passiflora ????

Hi all, I have been growing a small passion flower plant in a pot and it has had 1 bud on it for a while. I have been waiting for this to flower but I have just found the bud has fallen off ☹️ I'm not sure why as the plant itself it still green and looks ok, can anyone offer any suggestions what could have caused this?

Thank you

Sounds like a very young plant and they have forced the plant early so it looks nice on the eye, as it's not normally flowering this early. If this is the case, the plant may have been grown in very warm surroundings and will need to be slowly introduced to outdoor conditions and winds. I would say, nothing to be worried about. Just keep an eye on it regards watering if you are growing in a pot and wait patiently.

  • Hi sorry for the late reply, the label says passiflora caerulea, it had been outside for approx 2 weeks before the bud fell off, I will just have to be patient like you advised. I do tend to favour the pots as the garden can be covered like crazy in slugs and snails so I am a bit scared to plant anything in the ground in case I go out the next day and find it's all been eaten ??

  • Thank you for the reply, please could you also tell me what feed I should use and how often I should use it?

  • Hmmmm, after the only bud fell off the plant it was still green but it now seems to be dying, I'm not sure why, it hasn't dried out and I don't think it's overwatered as I also have 2 others that are doing quite well. From a previous reply can anyone advise if it needs feeding and if so what would I use and how often ?
