Dead Heading

I love azealas and rhodendrums and every year I try to dead head them as much as possible.  I was just wondering if everyone does this - I was watching Gardners World the other week on a visit to a garden with lots & lots of rhodendrums which looked too big to dead head but still had lots of flowers.

I have several rhododendrums 3 smallish ones and a very big one. I dead-head the smaller ones to make them look nicer, but I don't touch the big one it's about 10ft high and 15ft diam
It seems to make no difference to the flowering as far as I can tell

Many thanks Pete8 - just wondered if I was giving myself a lot of extra work.
