Where to plant clematis purpurea plena elegans

I have two options what come to mind but undecided. 

Option 1 - back of pergola, the pergola about 7 half ft tall so not huge and it a triangle shape. Can climb up apple tree as well. The pergola has rose generous gardener to the left front and a wisteria / clematis supernova to the right.

I like the thought of planting clematis betty corning there instead,  for the scent though 

Option 2 - plant next to a white buddleia and let it scramble though it, it doesn't seem to flower long so I would like to extended its use.

I wasn't intending on getting purpurea plena elegans but I couldn't help myself  .
