hi. I have been given four of these. Four feet tall, look like they want to be leggy shrubs or trees. dont know where to plant tiL I know what it is. 

Any thoughts?

    It looks like a Cornus ... Can't say which one from that pic. Any chance of seeing more of the plant, colour of stems etc? 


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Looks like Cornus alba... it will have white berries later in the year.

    Ooohhhh thanks both. Here's another photo. The stems are smooth and green with red tinges.

    Careful - I have one of these & it's EXTREMELY vigorous!
