Allium bulgaricum stems

The stems on my allium bulgaricum never grow straight up like the other alliums in the garden. They loop and bend , touching the soil and are hidden behind lower bushes planted in front of them. Is there a soil deficiency that causes this?

Are they in the same soil as your other alliums?  This is the one that's called Nectarscordum siculum bulgaricum  now?

I fnd that if grown on their own, their stems develop snake-like flexibility and ends.  When I grow them up through other planting they stay straight - at least I'm assuming that's a plausible explanation as I have had straight stems for several years now but, in this new garden, I planted some in an otherwise bare bed and voilà - bendy bits.

Interesting, the only time I get bendy bits is when the goose grass is winning image

Most of mine are bendy this year, or else smaller than usual, the overcrowded ones and the bare ground ones. Some years they are upright though and I never move them or feed them etc.

I've got 3 tripedales and they are very tall and upright, although one is blind this year.
