To prune or not to prune
My patio pear tree is now in its second year. It looks really healthy with lots of new growth but NO flowers and therefore there will be NO fruit again. Should I cut the new growth back and by how much? My patio plum tree bought at the same time has flowered this year and some of the flowers have set to produce fruit.

Pears tend to take their time about fruiting. It used to be said that you 'plant pears for your heirs'.
With modern varieties and rootstocks that's no longer true , but I still think it's early days yet for your little tree to fruit.
