Re potted Acer Tree - Dying?
We re potted this acer tree at the weekend and it seems to be getting worse each day. Other than watering is there anything we can do to help the situation? Thanks

did you damage the root ball in any way, Acers can be a bit picky when you transplant them at this time of year (best to do it in winter really)
it also could be sun/wind scorch, I'd move it somewhere shady and out of the wind and see if that helps it settle down and then you can move it back out to where you want it to be in a month or so.
Unfortunately we had no choice. The tree came from my grandparents house who have both now passed, we wanted to re pot the tree before the house sells. Due to the location the root ball was damaged a little but I thought it would recover? Thanks for the advice, i'll move it further into the shade
Hi Mark,
You may not plan to put the Acer in the ground but our experience of them, mid-east of Scotland is that they do better in the ground than in pots. Every Acer I have potted has struggled, and with the size of your Acer I think it will take off over summer if it's planted.

Took your advice and it's looking a lot better. Thanks
