This is a perennial fidgetbones and it is not a double but thank you for your reply. Mind you, having thought on it I expect ordinary lawn daisies are actually perennials.
This Daisy grows on the coast if that is any help to anyone and compared to a lawn daisy it is huge.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Fidgetbones, I've had a look at the link and that one shown is not my Daisy but I think you have answered my query as on reading all the information about the Daisy it does refer to some with 'enormous flowers'. So thank you once again, you've nailed it!

I used to grow bellis daisies as bedding plants and I always treated them as biennials. The newer ones are much more double than they used to be if that makes sense.
Thank you so much Fritillary thats it!! Erigeron glaucus, often known as the Beach Aster. You have solved my puzzle but thank you to fidgetbones and flowerlady3 for their contributions.

Its like a little ray of sunshine in my border - I love it.
The local council often use them to edge beds. They flower well for a good few weeks in Spring, usually surrounding tulips.
I've got it in my garden too - love it.
It was s gift from a friend many years ago and is labelled Erigeron Pink Jewel.
hope this helps.
I was thinking it could be an Erigeron because of the way the flower stalk comes out of the leaves.Maybe Erigeron Glaucus.
