Russian vine advice

I have a section of wall I would like to cover and rather like the sound of Russian vine. The area is dedicated to wildlife and especially bees and I understand that Russian vines are especially attractive to bees.

I am aware of its reputation as a thug, so plan on potting it to enable me to cotrol its growth. Will this work, or should I steer clear altogether?

Steer clear ......... if it's not happy it won't grow .......... if it is happy it will cover gardens around you for a couple of hectares.  We and two of our neighbours are still dealing with the repercussions of a Russian Vine planted here  by the owner before last ... the last owner did his best to get rid of it but it went over the fence, over the wall and rooted everywhere it touched.

The entire Red Army would have its work cut out to control Russian Vine!!!

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Thanks Dove. Having just celebrated my second knotweed-free year, I was minded to take a cautious approach with his cousin. Think I'll pass.
